Congratulations to the City of Miami’s Department of Information Technology for being voted the best digital city in the State of Florida and the #3 best digital city in the nation for 2008 by the Center for Digital Government!

Every year the Center for Digital Government partners with the National League of Cities (NLC) to examine how cities use technology to create a seamless environment between local government and constituents. They display their findings in a survey that ranks each City nationally and by state on their technology service delivery. The City of Miami’s Department of Information Technology is committed to delivering high-quality citizen-centric business solutions through cost-efficient communications and information technologies. In recent years, the City’s IT Department has obtained many accomplishments for its technology efforts. In 2007 the City of Miami was ranked 6 th in the Top 10 Digital Cities.

Currently, the City’s Department of Information Technology has several projects that they are working on to improve service delivery to City of Miami residents and constituents. Some of these projects include implementation and development of technology solutions for Land Management, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, Public Safety, and GIS - Geographic Information Systems initiatives. More specifically, some current projects include:

Development of vacant land registration application

Re-platforming mainframe applications to .NET/SQL 2005 environment

Development of new Land Management suite of applications using .NET/SQL2005

Implementation of Fire SafetyPAD application – remote entry of Fire/Rescue incidents

Implementation of Web EOC Emergency Incident Management system

Implementation of Oracle eBusiness Suite HR/Payroll modules

Development of data warehouse for Police Reporting

Development of various web based .NET applications
