Blog Post: Change is Danger and Opportunity
posted Wednesday, February 25, 2009 2:26 PM
In today's environment, the current scale of economic and financial challenges organizations face should not be underestimated. However, these events provide us with an opportunity to re-evaluate and change.
Innovate: necessity is truly the mother of invention. During hard times, we try to get more out of what we have and we assess our processes and practices with a different eye. Rather than simply doing "more of the same, faster," we ask whether we can do things differently, and we create the opportunity for long-term improvements. Ask: What can we improve? What can we do better, What opportunities do we have to reinvent ourselves? What do we have to change? Lead Change: To persuade people to make changes, you have to offer them compelling reasons to change. To lead change, create a strategy to change, inspire people to change, communicate the change and involve everyone in the change process. Once you've implemented change, ensure sustainability by educating people, hold others accountable, measure results, assess outcomes and reward success.
