Blog Post: Employment Fun in the Sun!

This summer the City of Miami is heating up the community with job opportunities as a Recreation Aide and Pool Lifeguard.  These positions with the City’s Department of Parks & Recreation are a great way to earn extra money during the summer. 

Do you have at least 6 (six) months of experience in recreational activities? 

If so, you may be interested in applying for the Recreation Aide I position.   As a Recreation Aide I you will be involved with planning and organizing summer recreational activities at one of our City Parks.  Applications will be accepted until March 27, 2009 so apply today!

Do you or a friend possess the following 3 certifications:  Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and Basic Life Support/CPR for the Professional Rescuer?

If you don’t, click here to view the Lifeguard Certification Class Schedule to sign-up for a training session to obtain the required certifications.

However, if you do, a Pool Lifeguard position at one of the City’s Pools may be just the job you’re looking for this summer.  As a Pool Lifeguard some of your responsibilities will be administering First Aid and CPR as needed, enforcing pool regulations, and protecting life at a City pool.

Be sure that if you do apply to become a Pool Lifeguard, you meet the following requirements: 

• You are at least 16 years of age by May 11, 2009 (all applicants must submit proof of age in the form of a driver’s license, birth certificate, naturalization certificate or valid U.S. passport with application.) 
• Your certifications are issued by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or a nationally recognized agency
• Your certifications remain valid until September 30, 2009
