Blog Post: Building Swimming Pools or Shooting Pool at the Bar

I had an epiphany as to why descriptive job postings are so important. This came to me when I posted a job on an online job board one way and got a bad response, and then changed the verbiage by as little as one word and got a great response. In my helping one client attract a swimming pool salesperson to hire, the word swimming made all of the difference in the world.

Originally, I had posted the position with the title "Pool Salesperson" after about a week of the posting being live not one person with experience in the swimming pool industry applied. In my effort to find a solution as to why the posting was not attracting the right people I simply added the word swimming in front of the word pool throughout the posting. This slight change made all of the difference in the world and in came the swimming pool industry professionals.
