Job Description

(Bodily Injury and Accident Paralegal) 

The Paralegal reports directly to the General Counsel and provides paralegal support to Attorneys and enhances Attorney effectiveness by performing delegated substantive legal work for all Attorneys in the Litigation Department.

The following are the usual, basic and essential functions of the position. These functions are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

• Review, draft and file legal documents such as discovery responses, motions and other pleadings for Attorneys

• Legal research

• Input billing for daily activity

• Responsible for providing Paralegal support to all Attorneys

• Compile, analyze and organize information

What is a Talent Network?

  • Assist a group of well-rounded attorneys with insurance defense cases
  • Maintain individual insurance licenses for the company
  • Assisting a law firm in Norfolk, VA with finding a paralegal to add to insurance defense team
  • Analyze state insurance laws and regulations for insurance companies, agencies, agents, third party administrators, managing general agents
  • Assist with insurance related filings for insurance companies, including preparation of Form A statements, Form B and C filings, Form D filings, insurance company expansion applications
  • Perform a variety of legal secretarial and administrative support duties
  • Retain all experts including the scheduling of defense medical examinations
  • Support the defense practice that includes representation of physicians, nurses, medical care institutions, allied health providers, motor carriers and insurers, and other business
  • Meet filing deadlines set by various state insurance departments
  • Organize and coordinate document production per attorney request
  • Begin as soon as the right candidate is found and is expected to last 1+ months
  • Reviewing documents for grammatical errors and court
  • Support the Legal Team in the management of outside counsel in litigation and regulatory matters
  • Provide legal support services to internal and external counsel with an emphasis on matters related defense litigation or corporate matters
  • Preparing discovery responsesincluding discovery responses, medical records, employment records, etc, doing research, writing motions, reviewing documents
  • Work well in a team environment, have superior drafting skills, and work well in a fast paced environment
  • Drafting discovery, and working with clients
  • Exercising paralegal skills in fast paced environment
  • Proven success proactively supporting busy attorneys, and have a positive attitude
  • Supporting several attorneys in the defense of nursing homes, healthcare professional liability, other medical malpractice matters, and general commercial liability defense
