ChildNet, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit community-based care (CBC) agency servicing Broward and Palm Beach County. We are contracted with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families, to provide case management support to abused, abandoned, and neglected children. ChildNet is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and employs over 450 staff at its location in Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida. There are current needs for individuals interested in working with the families and children to become Certified Case Managers. ChildNet provides on-site training for qualified individuals to prepare them to obtain their Florida certification as a Child Welfare Case Manager.  Becoming a Child Welfare Case Manager is an opportunity for select individuals to help vulnerable children through family reunification, adoption, or independent living. Case Managers work with parents, children, foster parents, group homes, the Broward Sheriff's Office, the County's Juvenile Justice System, and many support services to meet the goals of ChildNet and the Department of Children and Families.

Job Summary: This position supervises Intake Placement Advocates Supervisors (IPAs) and Safe Place support staff on a day to day basis and provides assistance to overcome challenges and barriers using ChildNet’s System of Care, Policies and Procedures and state and federal mandates for the Child Protection System.

Responsibilities: 

Provides leadership and direction in the implementation of short and long term goals by:

  • Signing child(ren)’s visitation form; reviews the chronological notes in automated software system.
  • Supporting the staff in delivering services and producing results that meet or exceed ChildNet’s standards.
  • Providing advanced knowledge to employee’s on the laws that govern child welfare, the handling of sensitive or confidential information, and resources in the community.
  • Acting as a liaison with Department of Children and Families (DCF), Palm Beach Sherriff’s Office (PBSO), community based providers, School Board, Guardian Ad-Litem Program, CPT, Dependency Court System and the Delinquency Court System.
  • Making the determination if a child is appropriate for an alert at time of initial removal, and enters the alert into the Childnet Alert System.
  • Reviewing assessments, recommendations and placement decision with CA –IPA’s; provides consultation and direction to verify appropriateness, clarity, quality, and thoroughness in meeting the needs of the children and their families. Identifies, secures and monitors referrals to community resources to meet the client’s needs.
  • Attending and providing recommendations for the Multidisciplinary Assessment Team (MAT)
  • Performing the duties of Intake Placement Supervisor (IPS) or Director of Intake and Placement in their absence.
  • Referring, identifying, and securing appropriate placement for children with disabilities.
  • Being able to recognize, respect and responds to the unique, culturally-defined needs of persons and families serviced.
  • Supports the Director of Intake and Placement in all aspects of program growth specifically through strategic and operational planning guidance and ensuring that required infrastructure is in place.
  • Promoting the safety, well-being, and permanency of children and their families
  • Maintain liaison with the Department of Children and families, Palm Beach Sherriff’s Office, Family court system, Board of Education, Guardian ad Litem, Child Protection Team, and community at large to analyze client’s needs, identify problems and overall performance.
  • Recognizing respecting and responding to the unique, culturally-defined needs of others served.

Skill / Requirements

* Must have Bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field (Masters' Degree peferred)

* Must have a current and active Florida Department of Children and Families Child Welfare Certification.

* Must have four (4) years of experience in human services or child welfare programs as an administrator, supervisor and case manager

* Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office 365 Suite and strong data entry skills.

* Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends in order to meet with children and families.

* Able and willing to work with a diverse client population.
