Purpose of Position:

The primary focus of the Senior Analyst, HRIS position is the support and maintenance of the human resource information systems (HRIS), currently Ultimate Software (Ultipro), Oracle, and ADP. This position serves as a technical point of contact for our HRIS applications and assists with ensuring data integrity by addressing real time data issues, testing system changes, and continually analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities. This role is involved in providing solutions, ad-hoc reports, procedures, testing, and training of the HRIS applications to the HR Team, along with software implementations and updates. In addition, this role is responsible for providing excellent customer service to end users of the company’s HR information systems.


  • Provide support for the HRIS applications, including researching and resolving HRIS problems, unexpected results or process flaws; performing scheduled activities; recommending solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.
  • Assist in the review, testing and implementation of HRIS modules, upgrades or patches. Collaborate with functional and technical staff to coordinate application of upgrade or fix.
  • Serve as system administrator for the HRIS, configure job codes and positions and update the organizational tree.
  • Manage user access, review, create and update user roles as needed.
  • Develop user procedures, guidelines and documentation. Train new and existing users on new processes and functionalities.
  • Maintain HRIS tables, pay and PTO policies, based on CBA and company policies. Document process and results.
  • Ensure projects, user requests, and inquiries are resolved or responded to in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Act as an internal HR Systems expert for the HR/Payroll department and managers of the company.
  • Serve as a key liaison with third party vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools (Cognos BI).
  • Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs.
  • Ensure data integrity in systems through regular audits, queries and data analysis.
  • Manage and support the General Ledger (G/L) interface between the respective HRIS applications.
  • Manage time and attendance tracking system, ensure time clock systems are functioning efficiently and accurately, and are setup per Company's guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business-related area and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ HR Systems experience required.
  • Proficiency in Ultimate Software (Ultipro), ADP, Cognos BI, Oracle and Excel.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle is needed.
  • Experience deploying new systems, integrating existing applications.
  • Knowledge of payroll compliance laws, as well as Federal, State and Provincial Laws related to payroll administration, with excellent knowledge of overall compliance and government reporting requirements.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • 1-3 years of HRIS experience in an Ultimate Software (Ultipro) environment is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with all levels within the organization
  • Must be organized with an ability to manage workload efficiently to fulfill commitments in a timely manner
  • Detail-oriented with strong ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
