Situated on oceanfront Collins Avenue in the heart of Millionaire's Row, Fontainebleau Miami Beach is one of the most historically and architecturally significant hotels on Miami Beach. Opened in 1954 and designed by Morris Lapidus, it was the most luxurious hotel on Miami Beach, and is thought to be the most significant building of Lapidus' career.

    Responsibilities

    The Lead Host/Hostess will be responsible to ensure that our guests’ dining experience surpass their expectations. Responsible for initial guest interaction at the restaurant and with all private parties, group functions and events, responsible for setting the tone for the guest experience.
    Examples of Duties, includes but is not limited to the following:
    1. Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture and values of Fontainebleau.
    2. Greet guests and escort them to the appropriate table in accordance with established guidelines and food & beverage standards.
    3. Answer the telephone and facilitate guest requests.
    4. Using the table management system, manage incoming reservations and restaurant floor for dinner and late night.
    5. Assist with daily administrative work as per direction of the restaurant manager.
    6. Perform general clerical tasks including maintaining logbooks and reservation counts on OpenTable.
    7. Maintain, oversee and increase the customer database to ensure efficient mailings and tracking of customer’s history and preferences.
    8. In partnership with Management Staff, ensures that service standards are on par with all outside accreditation sources: including but not limited to Zagat, Gayot, Relais & Chateaux, Mobil star, AAA Five Diamond, Wine Spectator, and Michelin star establishments and in keeping with the service foundation and philosophy established by Fontainebleau.
    9. Through networking and guest service in the restaurant, collect business cards and create new VIP guests.
    10. Networking and guest service in the restaurant and create new VIP guests.
    11. Update VIP notes in all databases.
    12. Assist in training and evaluating skilled host staff.
    13. Answer any questions about the menu, specific food items, the wine list or any other inquiries guests may have. 
    14. Attend, participate and/or lead staff pre-shifts.
    15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, guests, and management.
    • High school education or equivalent.
    • Relevant experience in a high quality, high volume operation.
    • Knowledge of basic food and wine products.
    • Ability to perform basic/intermediate math skills.
    • Must be pleasant, conscientious, and professional with excellent hospitality instincts and drive to provide customer service.
    • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and ensure smooth service operations and quality service. Be adept and proactive in handling guest concerns.
