Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing providing technical support of specialized land mobile radio (LMR) communications systems and product applications. The individual trains end users and other personnel on equipment operation and/or maintenance. The incumbent performs routine preventative maintenance services to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and thorough documentation of results. The individual performs advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communications system infrastructure and performance optimization of Radio Frequency and Broadband architecture. Bachelor's degree in computer science, programming, engineering or a related field is preferred. Business and Education Radio (NABER) Certification and APCO Certificate in public safety radio are preferred. A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience working in the telecommunications industry (700 MHz, 800MHz, VHF, or 4.9 GHz) including planning, design, and construction of radio communications projects. Experience must include working with large, multi-site radio and/or microwave networks (conventional and/or trunked radio systems), supervising engineering or technical staff is preferred. Prior experience working with EDACs/Motorola, is also preferred. Possession of a valid Amateur Radio License issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is required. Possession of a valid FL Driver's License is required. Familiar with analog and digital (DMR) programming. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages and databases. Demonstrate Excellent English written and oral communication skills. Ability to travel to all STOF Reservations and work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
