Job Description
Survey Technician 3 (Administrative Business Support)
 
This is an Office Support Position: Experienced intermediate level position in support of the following Office Business Units: Survey Section Operations, Technical Support, Business Practices, Human Resources, Asset Management, Budget, Purchasing, Accounts Receivable/Payable and various roles.  Knowledgeable and experienced in office software such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various databases.  Possesses a high degree of computer and office software skills, organizational skills, and communication skills.
 
Ability to understand, basic surveying and mapping functions, roles, business unit operations and applicable Electronic Drafting (CAD) or GIS platforms supporting map making applications. At times nature of work may include working in an outdoor environment in support of Survey Section Field Operations. Communicates and interacts with customers and landowners while functioning in a team environment. Experience/Knowledge within land surveying, engineering or construction industries is a plus.
 
Survey Section Technical Support Roles:
• Technical assistance in the preparation of Legal Descriptions, survey documents and reports.
• Complete workflows in SEDERA and Survey Benchmark Data-Base maintenance.
• Assists with support to SCADA reference elevation processes (field-office roles). Logs and assigns field books to designated
  projects. Processes survey requests, assigns    tracking numbers, files and retrieves archived data.
• Assist. procurement Work-Orders, Statements of Work supporting consultant contracts and project coordination.
• Provides services and support for EOC Emergency Response.

Organizational Support - Survey & Mapping Section:     
• Assists Section Administrator in planning, prioritizing, providing professional, technical-clerical support within Section & Bureau.
• Property Control/Asset Management.
• Staff/Field personal travel coordination, purchase requisitioning.
• Budget/Financial Coordination/Management.
• Monitor expenditures and dashboard reports.
• During an emergency event, tracks for timely completion of employee time sheets ensuring proper coding.
• Obtains and tracks SAP Project Systems Network/Activity timesheet coding for staff working on specific projects.
• Provides business operations support for the procurement of goods and services, purchase requisitioning, receiving goods.
• Employee sets the place for work unit expenditure tracking, P-card purchases and correcting others to stay on task.
• Processes training enrollments-coordinates external training/travel requests ensuring proper coding within budgetary
  authorization.
• HR Generalist support, such as complete recruitment process including input into Kenexa system.
• Preparation and submittal of the monthly minor incident report.
• Fleet, Training and Emergency Management Coordinator for Section.
 
Employment Guidelines
Typically has High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years experience for both the Field and for the Office position.  Experience for a FIELD Position is working on a survey field crew, which includes one (1) to  two (2) years extensive experience operating surveying instruments.  Experience for an OFFICE Position includes supplemental college business courses and experience in an office environment performing data entry and administrative duties with a knowledge of the land surveying profession and business.
 
Licenses
Valid State of Florida Driver's License is required.
 
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.

Office position is limited physical exertion with some outside work activity.
 
Physical Requirements/Environment for office position is mostly sedentary in an office environment sitting at a desk operating a personnel computer to produce work products with periodic travel to remote survey field offices.
